2 killed, 15 hurt in Pangasinan road mishaps
DAGUPAN CITY – Two motorcycle riders were killed while 15 others were wounded in six separate road accidents on Tuesday, the eve of All Saints’ Day, in Pangasinan province.
Michael John Tuliao, 31, did not reach the hospital alive after the motorcycle he was driving on the northbound lane of the national highway in Barangay (village) San Miguel in Calasiao town was hit by another motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction at 11:20 p.m.
The driver of the other motorcycle, Jose De Vera Jr., 27, and his back-rider, Merlo De Nieva, were injured and are now being treated in a hospital.
At 10:20 p.m. in Pozorrubio town, motorcycle rider Roldan Emperador was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee Wagon while traversing the Manila North Road in Barangay Palacpalac in Pozorrubio town at 10:20 p.m.
Police said the wagon driver, Ferdinand Rafael, 51, tried to avoid hitting a truck by swerving to the left. But Rafael still hit the truck, losing control of his vehicle and hitting Emperador’s motorcycle.
In Sual town, six persons, including a 3-year-old girl, were hurt after two tricycles collided in a narrow village road in Barangay Santo Domingo at 7:10 p.m.
Tricycle drivers July Diaz, 32, and Leonides Villarda, 50, and their passengers Rommel Cabungason, 43, Erlinda Villa, 54, Reyjell Villarda, 24, and Rinalyn Villarda, 3, were treated in a hospital in Alaminos City.
In Mapandan town, motorcycle rider Marco Valdicandi, 29, suffered head injuries and bruises when his motorcycle hit a bicycle in Barangay Pias at 10:45 p.m.
Bicycle driver Hector Reyes, 50, and his son Andry James Reyes, 11, also suffered injuries.
In Infanta town, tricycle driver Conrado Arig, 53, and motorcycle rider Richard Martinez, 18, and his back-rider, Cegie de Guzman, 16, were injured when their vehicles collided in Barangay Cato at about 2:20 p.m.
Another motorcycle rider was injured when his vehicle was sideswiped by a car in Barangay Amamperez in Bayambang town at about 11:55 p.m.
Calvin Tamondong, 32, was injured in his left leg and was treated in a hospital. /kga
