7 hurt as bus rams solid barrier on QC ‘killer highway’

Seven people were injured after a bus plying Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City crashed into a concrete barrier on Wednesday.

Two men and five women were injured and were immediately brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

Police Office 2 (PO2) Enrico Vitarbo said a Mayamy Bus with license plate number TXW 386 was travelling towards Fairview around 9:45 a.m. when it hit the barrier placed in the construction site of Metro Rail Transit 7 near Commonwealth Market.

Investigators have yet to identify the driver as he immediately fled the scene, Vitarbo told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.

The driver would be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries, the police officer noted.

Authorities were trying to get in touch with the owner of Mayamy Bus as of posting.  /kga
