2 of 6 in Laguna prison break nabbed in Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY — Two of the six inmates who broke out of the Laguna provincial jail Sunday morning where they shot a jail guard were recaptured in Cavite province early Tuesday.

Rommel Palacol of the Laguna Action Center said the inmates identified as Rhandel Vale, who was jailed for murder, and Romel Macaraig, who was charged with carnapping and illegal possession of explosives, were recaptured around 9:30 a.m. by members of the Cavite police intelligence unit in the area of Barangay (village) Pasong Buaya 1 in Imus City.

It was not immediately clear why the two fled to Cavite, an adjacent province of Laguna, but a Cavite police source said they were re-arrested separately this morning.

Meanwhile, police are still tracking down four more inmates identified as Rayman Caparas Raymundo, Teddy Sarte Bucal, Verjust Daldi Dizon, and Rio Amihan Mahilom. /je
