Emilio Aguinaldo issued his first two manifestos in Kawit, Cavite province. One manifesto declared the attainment of Philippine independence as the aim of the revolution, while another announced the formation of a central revolutionary committee for the government of towns.

Ilocano magazine Bannawag, the weekly vernacular magazine circulated in the Ilocos region, was established by Liwayway Publishing Inc. Ilocano poetry, short stories and novels had been published in the magazine. In July 2005, Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp. acquired Bannawag, along with other vernacular publications of Liwayway.
