The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc has appointed Commissioner Christian Robert Lim as acting chairman of the agency, Radyo Inquirer said on Tuesday.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the decision to appoint Lim, the most senior commissioner, was unanimous.
Radyo Inquirer added that when former Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes retired, Lim was also appointed to the same position.
On Monday, resigned Comelec Chair Andres Bautista said Malacañang has officially accepted his resignation effective immediately.

The House of Representatives voted to impeach Bautista last October 11, hours after he announced that he was stepping down on December 31. /je
