Part of nat’l road in Bohol blocked after landslide
GARCIA HERNANDEZ, Bohol — A portion of the national road in Barangay Cayam here was blocked by mounds of earth and debris, following the landslide on Tuesday night that was triggered by incessant rains.
No one was hurt when the landslide occurred at 8 p.m., said Alberto Gallendez, chief tanod of Barangay Cayam.
Resident Romulo Bahan, 53, said that he heard a loud thud past 8 p.m. while he was on duty as a bantay dagat volunteer.
When he checked the area, he saw toppled trees and mud covered a portion of road.
“Nadahili na ang yuta unya naay dala nga tubig (The soil with water cascaded down),” Bahan said.
Article continues after this advertisementHe said the road was so slippery that a motorcycle skidded. The passenger and driver were hurt and brought to a hospital in Valencia town.
The road was passable but village watchmen and personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways were monitoring the area since the soil continued to cascade. /je
