Senate suspends work for 2nd day over strike
The Senate also suspended work on Tuesday, following Malacañang’s suspension of classes at all levels and work in government offices due to the second day of nationwide transport strike.
Officer-in-charge Senator Gregorio Honasan confirmed this through the Senate’s official social media accounts, late Monday.
Prior to this, the Supreme Court has also suspended work in all courts nationwide due to possible accessibility concerns brought about by the transport strike.
Jeepney drivers and operators led by Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) is set to conduct their second day of transport holiday Tuesday to oppose the government’s jeepney modernization program which, they said would result to the phase-out of their jeepneys.
They would also stage programs in various protest centers along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao, Philcoa, Litex and Welcome Rotonda in Quezon City; Monumento in Caloocan City, Stop and Shop and Pedro Gil in Manila, and in Alabang. /cbb
