Metro Manila police on alert for Clinton visit—PNP
MANILA, Philippines—The entire police force of the National Capital Region, or Metro Manila, will be on alert Tuesday for the two-day visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Manila, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
According to PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., their men will conduct special security measures in the vicinities of the three venues that Clinton will visit including clearing the traffic on Clinton’s routes and making sure that these areas are safe.
“Magsasagawa ng mobile patrols ang mga kapulisan natin from NCRPO [National Capital Region Police Office] upang masiguro na walang kriminal sa paligid ng pupuntahan niya at pati sa venue mismo (NCRPO police officers will conduct mobile patrols in the vicinities of places she will visit to make sure that there will be no criminals lurking around),” Cruz Jr. said.
Cruz Jr. said that the police are now waiting for the Presidential Security Group to release the primary security plan for Clinton.
Cruz Jr. also said that the police had not received any information that would compromise the safety of Clinton.
