Severe tropical storm “Odette” exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Saturday night, but the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to dampen Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said early Sunday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 4 a.m. forecast that “Odette” (international name “Khanun”) was at 590 km west of Basco, Batanes (outside PAR). It was packing maximum winds and gusts of up to 120 and 145 kph, respectively, as it moved westward at 25 kph.

Due to the trough of Odette, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Island will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau said Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the Bicol region, MIMAROPA, Western and Central Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, the provinces of Tawi-Tawi, Sulu and Basilan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain with thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies apart from isolated rainshowers, mostly in the afternoon or evening, over the rest of the country, Pagasa added. /cbb
