Bus bursts into flames in Bohol; nobody injured

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A passenger bus caught fire in Alburquerque town in Bohol province on Sunday afternoon, police said.

PO1 Serterio Elicot Jr, desk officer of Alburquerque Municipal Police Station, told Inquirer that a Mega Bus with license plate CYS 471 caught fire on the highway in Barangay Santa FeMega in Alburquerque town past 4 p.m.

Elicot said the bus, which was bound for Tagbilaran City, had five passengers including a minor. He said no one was hurt in the accident.

Passengers noticed smoke coming out of the back portion of the bus, prompting the driver, Luis Secretario, 45, a conductor, and a crew of three to examine the engine.

Suddenly, the engine burst into flames and the passengers quickly disembarked.

Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the fire.

Elicot said authorities would conduct further investigation to determine the cause of the blaze. /atm
