A man wanted by the Marikina City police for murder was arrested in Albay province on Saturday.
Senior Supt Roger Quesada, Marikina police chief, said that members of the city police’s intelligence unit led by SPO4 Ramiel Soriano took Ronald Apante into custody after they tracked him down in Pawa, Tabaco City.
The 44-year-old Apante, a native of Bombon, Camarines Norte, was being sought by the police for the murder of Estelito Labag, a 35-year-old meat vendor, in 2016.
Judge Alice Gutierrez of the Marikina Regional Trial Court Branch 193 had issued a warrant for his arrest.
Marikina police coordinated with the Tabaco police to get Apante, who was placed under arrest while he was waiting for a ride near his house on Sept. 16. —Jodee A. Agoncillo
