According to the Epidemiology Bureau of the Department of Health, a total of 9,983 cases of acute bloody diarrhea were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to Aug. 5.
This was 5.42 percent higher compared to the same period last year.
A total of 39 deaths were reported, 29 of them in the Central Visayas region. —Marielle Medina
