Rainfall in Alabat, Quezon double than monthly average due to ‘Maring’

The amount of rainfall that soaked the town of Alabat in Quezon was twice more than its monthly average due to Tropical Depression Maring.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, state weather forecaster Nicos Penaranda said that 537.5 mm of rainfall was recorded in Alabat station in a span of 24 hours (from 8 a.m. of Sept. 11 to 8 a.m. of Sept. 12).

“Kung makikita natin ang normal rainfall sa month ng September halos more than twice sa naitala ng station,” he said.

The town of Alabat, which has an average of 253 mm of rainfall every September, was located near the center of Maring.

Maring made landfall over Mauban around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

In Mabulong, Batangas, a rainfall amount of 273.7 mm was recorded in a span of 24 hours, exceeding its monthly average of 257 mm. /je
