Signal No. 1 raised over Metro Manila, 12 areas of Luzon due to ‘Maring’

Metro Manila and more areas in Luzon were placed under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression “Maring” maintained its strength and direction on Monday night.

Other areas under the storm signal were Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Nothern Quezon including Polillo Island, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Quirino, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Aurora, according to the 8 p.m. bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Maring is expected to make landfall over Quezon-Aurora area on Tuesday afternoon.

Sea travel is dangerous over the eastern seaboards of Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol region, Pagasa said.

“Maring” was last spotted 255 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 60 kph.
