A fire broke out at a hotel being built near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, causing heavy traffic in the area.

The blaze reportedly started at the roof deck of the Sheraton Hotel located at the Newport City beside the Resorts World Manila.

Philippine National Police-Southern Police District chief Tomas Apolinario said in a statement that the fire, as of this posting, was currently on second alarm.

The cause of fire is still being determined by fire investigators but a lot of welding activities were being done on the roof deck of the building, Apolinario said.

Apolinario advised motorists to avoid the area because of heavy traffic with the response of firetrucks going on in the place. JPV
