Give justice to Kian and Carl, regain public’s trust, JV tells PNP

To regain public trust, the Philippine National Police (PNP) should help give justice to minors Kian Delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz, Senator JV Ejercito urged on Tuesday.

“The Philippine National Police has sworn to enforce the law, protect life and property, preserve peace, and reduce fear. Unfortunately, some rogue police involved in the killing of Kian Lloyd Delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz have acted otherwise from these duties,” Ejercito said in a statement.

The senator urged the PNP to guarantee punishment to abusive authorities because he believes there are still honorable policemen in PNP.

“I have known honorable policemen and I trust that this is not the case with all of PNP. Thus, in order to regain public trust, I call on to the PNP to help give justice on the murder cases of Kian Delos Santos and Carl Arnaiz, and guarantee severe punishment to abusive police,” Ejercito said.

Ejercito also expressed high hopes that the PNP would rightfully act on the “rotten eggs” in the ranks of the police.

“Rotten eggs should be weeded out from the PNP since they weaken the ranks, exploit the war against drugs, and cripple our effort to maintain peace and order in the country,” said Ejercito.

“I hope the PNP would rightfully act on this even if it means turning over their own colleagues,” he added.

Delos Santos, 17, was killed in an alleged shootout with Caloocan City cops during a drug operation, while Arnaiz,19, was also shot dead by Caloocan City policemen after he allegedly robbed a cab driver and fired at arresting officers. IDL
