Victims of QC cement mixer mishap seek PAO help

Survivors of the road mishap that involved a cement mixer crushing a family car about two weeks ago sought the help of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) for possible mediation in court regarding damage claims.

On the afternoon of August 15, a cement mixer owned by Topstar Ready Concrete Incorporated and driven by Jayson Muleta, went wayward and end up falling on its side on top of a Honda compact car bearing a family of five along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City.

Marife Ramos and her three children were injured, while Ramos’ husband, Ulysses, died in the accident after being pinned down on the driver’s seat.

PAO Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta confirmed on Thursday that they have already assigned lawyers to look into the situation of Ramos.

“We will see if we can set it for mediation with regard to civil action. May (We have) PAO attorneys assigned to the case,” Acosta told INQUIRER.net.

The PAO chief said Ramos personally visited their office a few days ago, saying that the cement mixer company did not help with the full payment of their family’s hospitalization.

Ramos, aside from the grief of her husband’s death, was left with no job and three young children to support.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with homicide and multiple physical injuries were earlier filed against the cement mixer driver, Muleta, who was temporarily detained at the District Traffic Enforcement Unit Sector 6 headquarters of the Quezon City police. JPV
