Farmer killed, minor hurt in shootings in Sorsogon, Albay

LEGAZPI CITY — A farmer was killed while a minor was injured in two separate shooting incidents in the provinces of Sorsogon and Albay on Wednesday.

Senior Superintendent Marlon Tejada, director of Sorsogon police, said Roland Gracilla, farmer and resident of Barangay (village) Tugas in Matnog town, Sorsogon, was shot to death by an unidentified gunman while managing his farmland around 1:20 p.m. The police have yet to
establish the motive of the incident.

In Barangay Comon in Tabaco City, Albay, a 17-year-old young man was shot multiple times after he was abducted in Legazpi City at around 12:20 a.m., Chief Inspector Arthur Gomez, information officer of Albay police, said. The victim’s name was withheld by police as investigation is ongoing.

Gomez said, quoting the victim’s statement, that the young man had accompanied his girlfriend to her house in Barangay Rawis where he was abducted by two unidentified motorcycle riders at knife point then brought to Tabaco City where he was shot several times by another motorcycle driver.

The victim, who is now in stable condition at the hospital, identified the persons involved in the incident but police also withheld information on the suspects pending investigations. JE
