RAMON, Isabela — The son of a village watchman is crying foul over what he said was the murder of his father in a police drug bust here on Aug. 17.
Edmar Lee Sing Sr., 51, of Barangay Raniag was killed after he allegedly grappled for a gun when he was arrested for possessing a sachet of “shabu” (crystal meth) and a hand grenade.
But in a series of Facebook posts, his son, Edmar II, alleged that his father was framed by the police.
Edmar II claimed that his father was invited at 3 p.m. on Aug. 17 to join a barangay operation, not knowing that he was the target.
Sing’s relatives claimed that the watchman bore signs that he was handcuffed, had broken and scalded fingers, and had bruises around his eyes.
Supt. Genesis Cabacungan, Ramon police chief, could not immediately be reached for comment while village chair, Jerry Saraos, did not answer calls and text messages from the Inquirer. —Villamor Visaya Jr.
