While he consistently expresses his support to the Philippine National Police (PNP), President Rodrigo Duterte “will give hell” to those who abuse their positions, the police leadership said on Tuesday.

“The President/CIC/Chief Executive is consistent in his statements about his support to the PNP. He will back up those who are performing their mandate but will give hell to those who will abuse their authority,” PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement.

The statement comes amid the controversial death of 17-year-old Grade 11 student Kian Loyd delos Santos, who was killed in a police operation in Caloocan City on Aug. 16.

Police claimed Delos Santos resisted authorities and allegedly fired at them, prompting them to fire back. But witnesses claimed the police account was not true.

“In the case of Kian, the CIC agrees to an investigation, prosecution and point to the liabilities of those who will be found at fault,” Carlos said, saying that the President had already assured the public there will be no whitewash on the investigation. JPV
