‘Isang’ moving away from Batanes; cyclone warnings still up

Tropical Storm “Isang” continued its track early Tuesday after it crossed the Batanes area, the state weather bureau said.

The storm will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring light up to heavy rain over the Visayas and the rest of Luzon particularly over the western section and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Signal No. 2 remained hoisted over Batanes area, while Northern Cagayan including the Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte were placed under Signal No. 1.

Residents in areas with storm signals were warned of possible flashfloods and landslides.

Isang was last spotted 60 kilometers west northwest of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of up to 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 97 kph.

It moved westward at 20 kph.

Isang is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday afternoon, Pagasa said. CBB
