Faeldon: Relief from Customs is ‘best for country’
“My relief from my post is the best for our country,” Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said on Tuesday, a day after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he had accepted his resignation.
Faledon then urged everyone to continue to support the reform agenda and the development programs of the Duterte administration.
Duterte, in a televised press conference Monday night, disclosed that he had accepted Faeldon’s resignation amid the P6.4 billion worth of smuggled shabu controversy hounding the bureau.
The President said Faeldon would be replaced by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director Isidro Lapeña.
“I thank everyone who has supported the Bureau of Customs during my stay and I appeal to the BOC employees and to the public to support the new commissioner. Thank you very much,” Faeldon said. CBB
