TODAY, March 16, is the 51st anniversary of the inauguration of the Araneta Coliseum. Occupying a total land area of almost four hectares, its construction lasted for around three years. It opened in 1960 with the Gabriel “Flash” Elorde-Harold Gomes World Junior Lightweight bout, which was witnessed live by more than 33,000 spectators. Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
