Drug killings under probe reach 481 in QC

Deaths under investigation in Quezon City reached 481 on Wednesday, after four more people were killed by gunmen in the past 10 hours.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said it was investigating at least 366 homicide cases, where most killers remained unidentified, since July 2016 when the Duterte administration began its bloody war on drugs.

Of the 431 murder cases since then, only 65 were considered solved or cleared.

The QCPD-Batasan police station had the highest number of deaths, with 300 killed since the start of the drug war.

Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Allan Villareal, 39, was reportedly driving his tricycle with a passenger when two masked men on motorbikes shot him several times along Tupaz Street in Barangay Novaliches Proper.

Five hours later, gunmen also struck at the house of Jheyson Luaya, 37, along Santa Cruz Street in Barangay Holy Spirit and fired at him at least nine times.

An hour later, around 7 p.m., Jhizelle Duay, 26, was shot dead along San Juan Bautista Street in Barangay Payatas.
