‘Love triangle’ eyed in cop’s killing of nurse in Batangas
BATANGAS CITY — A policeman shot to death a nurse in Agoncillo town in Batangas province late afternoon Wednesday, police said Thursday.
Senior Inspector Amiel Sanhi, Agoncillo police chief, said Police Officer 1 Justin Feliciano Colona allegedly gunned down Darrel Irvin De Claro, 28, who was reportedly the new boyfriend of the policeman’s former girlfriend.
Colona, assigned to the 3rd Maneuver Platoon of the Quezon provincial police, fled after the shooting but was arrested in a follow up operation at his house in Barangay Pamiga, also in Agoncillo.
Sanhi De Claro, 28, a municipal nurse, was on his motorcycle going to a basketball court in Barangay Poblacion at about 5:30 p.m. when he was repeatedly shot by Colona.
The victim suffered bullet wounds in the head and body. He died on the spot.
