The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed repairs on a P1.2-km access road to Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig.
Melvin Navarro, the DPWH director for Metro Manila, said the P42-million repair works on the section of MRT Avenue, also known as Bayani Avenue, leading to Libingan was completed in time for the observance of National Heroes Day on Aug. 28.
“Those who plan to go to Libingan ng mga Bayani to visit their deceased loved ones or pay respects to our country’s fallen heroes will have a smoother and more convenient travel to the national cemetery in time for National Heroes Day,” Navarro said.
The repair of the four-lane road should improve the traffic condition in the area since it can be used as an alternative to divert traffic from C5 Road and Lawton Avenue, he added.
The DPWH said it had also installed a new drainage system along Bayani Avenue to prevent flooding in the area. —Dona Z. Pazzibugan
