DAGUPAN CITY — Three people were injured on Friday night in a five-vehicle collision along the Naguilian Road at Burgos town in La Union province.
The accident took place at around 8 p.m. in Barangay (village) Old Poblacion where a bridge connecting Burgos to Naguilian town is being repaired.
A bus with malfunctioning brakes crashed into a sports utility vehicle (SUV), two vans and a car which were traveling downhill from Baguio City, said Senior Insp. Nestor Juanbe, Burgos chief of police.
The SUV had stopped and yielded to the vehicles traversing the road’s left lane, when the bus driver lost control of his vehicle. The SUV was shoved off the road and fell off a 3-meter high embankment.
Juanbe said the drivers of the car and the SUV, as well as a bus passenger, were hurt and taken to a hospital for treatment. The police have not released the names of the injured.
