Honasan surrenders, posts bail in Laguna

Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan surrendered on Friday morning to the Biñan, Laguna police and posted bail at a local court.

The Sandiganbayan issued on Thursday an arrest warrant against the senator for two counts of graft, setting bail at P30,000 for each count.

According to Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Mao Aplasca the senator, accompanied by his lawyer Dennis Manalo, voluntarily gave himself up to the Biñan police at around 7:30 am Friday.

Aplasca said that Honasan was placed under arrest and underwent the booking process, including the taking of fingerprints and mugshots, at the police station.

The senator then proceeded to the Biñan, Laguna regional trial court branch 25 to post a total of P60,000 bail for his provisional liberty.

Executive judge Teodoro Solis received the bail bond and issued a corresponding order for the senator’s release from police custody.

Aplasca said that the court sheriff will deliver the bail and the release order to the Sandiganbayan within the day.
