A group of reconstructive surgery specialists, dentists and nurses from Operation Restore Hope Australia and the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu (RCMC) will hold a free surgery for some 100 children with harelips and cleft palates and other facial deformities from Nov. 13 to 18 at the Mandaue City Hospital.
Dr. Neil Oliver Camunggol, club president, said the 21st Operation Restore Hope Mission is a joint project with the Mandaue City government. It is also supported by the Vicsal Foundation.
Operation Restore Hope, one of the longest running medical missions in Cebu hosted by RCMC has operated on more than 2,500 children with facial deformities, restoring their hope of living a normal life, Dr. Camunggol said.
Dr. Wyben Briones, RCMC past president and mission coordinator, said the screening of patients will start at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, Sunday, at the Mandaue City Hospital.
Parents of children with similar facial deformities are advised to go to the screening venue or contact Rotary Club of Metro Cebu secretariat head Mimi Acasio at 0928-5077390 or 0922-7996237 and 5823695.
