Pagasa: Monsoon rains to persist until Friday
Monsoon rains will continue in parts of Luzon and Visayas until Friday, the state weather bureau said.
A typhoon outside the Philippine area of responsibility is enhancing the southwest monsoon or hanging habagat, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
Typhoon Noru was last spotted 1,575 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 205 kph.
It moved northwest at 10 kph.
Noru has no direct effect in any part of the country, but it will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Southern Luzon and Visayas until Friday, Pagasa said. Frances Mangosing/JE
