SAN PEDRO CITY — Police raided a remote farm in San Pablo City, Laguna on Sunday and killed two suspected gang leaders.
The suspects, Flores Aram and Edgar Ramos, were killed in a gunfight with police.
Supt. Vicente Cabatingan, chief of the Laguna police intelligence unit, said the two were leaders of the so-called “Posporo (matchbox) Gang,” which operated a “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) tiangge (flea market) in a farm in the upland village of Dolores in San Pablo.
Cabatingan said the group was known for packing ‘shabu” in matchboxes.
Policemen disguised themselves as participants in a village cleanup activity when they raided the farm.
Cabatingan said the team was met by gunfire by the suspects who were killed instantly.
He said the group’s operation drew suspicion as residents observed many vehicles entering the area specially on weekends and during paydays. —Maricar Cinco
