P14T worth of fish seized at Pasil market

THE Cebu City Bantay Dagat seized boxes of fish worth at least P14,000 at the fish market of barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

The apprehension was made past 1 a.m. yesterday.

The boxes of fish were found loaded in four trucks. They believed to have come from the towns of San  Remegio and Medellin and Bogo City, said Ranulfo Sebusa, chief of the Cebu City Bantay Dagat.

No one was arrested during the confiscation. The owners of the fish were not around.

“They may have spotted us already and they went into hiding,” said Sebusa.

Nathaniel Lucero of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR),  said it was confirmed in an examination that the fishes were caught using explosives.
