Suspected drug lord, 2 others killed in QC police encounter
Suspected drug lord Johnny de Leon and two others were killed by members of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Region 2 police in his safe house in Barangay Pag-asa, Quezon City, Sunday.
De Leon’s hechmen, Arnold Manipon, 61, and an unidentified man around 30-35 years old, were also killed in the encounter.
According to the spot report, one of the slain suspects had fired at the approaching policemen who were serving a search warrant around 5 a.m..
The joint police operatives had arrived at the scene to implement a search warrant on De Leon after reports that some of his firearms registration were already expired, said Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD district director.
Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 89 issued the warrant.
De Leon reportedly supplied “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Isabela, Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya provinces, said Senior Supt. Remus Medina, chief of Regional Intel Division of Police Regional Office 2. JE
