A man unintentionally stole his daughter’s thunder during her wedding when he was nearly electrified by a lightning bolt.

On Saturday, July 8, JP Nadeau was giving a tear-jerking speech during his daughter’s big day when he was struck by lightning in an outdoor ceremony in New Brunswick, Canada.

“It was a sudden shock, I gotta tell you. It just ran right through me. It was crazy,” Nadeau told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

“’Adam, you are some lucky guy.’ As soon as I said that, my daughter’s eyes – she was looking at me – just popped right out because all of a sudden there was this lightning flash that hit right behind me,” he added.

Luckily, Nadeau survived the petrifying attack and only had a small scar on his thumb.

“The power went into the sound booth and came back through the mic cord, and I was looking at my hand, and it lit up,” Nadeau said. “I must have jumped, I’m sure I jumped, because I felt a major shock, but after that, I was kind of okay.”

The incident, though frightening and deadly, apparently helped Nadeau’s health in a way. “I think my knee’s working better,” he said.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
