The provincial health officer of Cavite was killed in an ambush in Trece Martires City Tuesday night, Gov. Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Wednesday.
Remulla, in a telephone interview, said Dr. George Repique Jr. had just finished his hospital duty in Trece Martires at past 9 p.m. when he was attacked by an undetermined number of gunmen.
The governor did not provide details on which hospital Repique had come from or whether he was onboard a vehicle when he was shot.
The Cavite police have yet to release a report on the ambush.
Remulla said the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group was reviewing footage from security cameras near the crime scene.
“[Repique was] a big loss to us. [He was a] very good person,” he said.
Repique, 47, served as Cavite’s health officer for the last seven years. CBB
