Ormoc City residents forced to leave their homes by the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the Visayas last week are facing a new threat — rain.
Most affected are quake victims temporarily living in tents, said Mayor Richard Gomez Wednesday morning over radio dzMM.
Gomez thanked government and private groups for sending help to the victims.
More rain could be expected in Ormoc and the rest of the Visayas as an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continued to dump rain in most parts of the country, the weather bureau said.
The ITCZ is affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Region 4-B (comprised of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Western and Central Visayas, Negros Island, the Caraga and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. FM/CBB
