The Department of Health’s (DOH) regional office in Mimaropa region will build its own drug rehabilitation and treatment center to serve more than 500 patients.

The P600-million rehabilitation center would rise in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, and serve the region’s five provinces.

Eduardo Janairo, DOH regional director, said the facility would augment ongoing community-based rehabilitation programs of provincial and local government health units.

The Mimaropa region has a total of 20,910 drug suspects who surrendered. At least 7,805 of them had been screened for rehab.

Oriental Mindoro has the highest number of drug suspects who surrendered with 9,563.

Palawan came in second with 5,260 suspects followed by Occidental Mindoro with 3,770.
