Amiel Espinar was just 2 years old when he was diagnosed in 2016 with retinoblastoma, a type of cancer that starts in the retina.
“The doctor advised me to go to Sorsogon so that the tumor in my son’s eye can be operated on immediately and stopped from affecting his brain,” Amiel’s father, Amale Espinar, a farmer from Camarines Norte province, told the Inquirer. A single parent, he has three other children.
Last September, father and son went to Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City where Amiel underwent chemotherapy.
On Jan. 21 this year, the tumor in his eye was removed during an operation. Another 12 chemotherapy sessions has been recommended for Amiel, now aged 4. So far, he has completed just five sessions, each one costing P38,000.
“We are scheduled for an MRI test on July 24. If the results are good, the sixth chemotherapy session may be in August. I pray that God will continue to help us through you,” said Amale Espinar who can be reached at 0950-3634279. Deposits can be made to his Landbank account
