The regional director of the Western Visayas police ordered the relief of 19 town chiefs of police in the area because of their dismal performance in the war on drugs.

Police Regional Office 6 director Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag said that the relief of the 19 chiefs of police from the provinces of Antique, Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo is based on the recommendation of the regional oversight committee.

Relieved were nine police chiefs in Iloilo; six in Capiz; three in Aklan; and a chief of police in Antique province.

Relieved were the chiefs of police in the towns of Alimodian, Anilao, Barotac Viejo, Dingle, Dumangas, Igbaras, Janiuay, Lemery, and San Dionisio in Iloilo; as well as in the municipalities of Sigma, Dumarao, Maayon, Mambusao, Pilar and President Roxas in Capiz.

Also sacked were the police chiefs in Altavas, Lezo, and Numancia towns in Aklan; and Bugasong town in Antique.

“The relief will be implemented by (their) respective provincial directors in coordination with the local chief executives,” he pointed out.

Binag added, “The reason is low or non-performance in the campaign of project SLT/HVT (street-level targets/high value targets).” JPV
