Makati’s newest centenarians get P100,000 gift, plaque
The Makati City government recently made the birthdays of its three newest centenarians more memorable by giving each one P100,000 in cash.
Aside from the monetary incentive, Avelina Gil of Barangay Poblacion, Zita Relova of Barangay San Antonio and Emilia San Luis of Barangay San Antonio also received plaques of recognition.
The cash and plaque were personally handed over by Mayor Abigail Binay who visited the centenarians in their houses.
“This is our humble way of showing them how grateful we are for all their contributions [to] the city’s progress as well as to nation-building,” Binay said.
The Makati Social Welfare and Development office has recognized 41 centenarians since 2012 when City Ordinance No. 2012-099 was enacted.
To receive the same perks, one should be a Filipino citizen, a resident of Makati and must have reached 100 years old as of the current year.
