FDA warns vs 9 unregistered food supplements

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public against using nine unregistered food supplements beings sold in the market.

The FDA identified the products as Natuform Beauty Breast, Sambong Food Supplement, Banaba Food Supplement and Mangosteen Food Supplement by Home Made Herbal Product, Malunggay Food Supplement, Power Charcoal in a capsule, Rice Germ, Zhong Hua Niu Bian Supplement, and Lian Zhan Qi Tian Supplement.

“Since these have not gone through evaluation and testing, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety,” the agency said on Friday.

The agency advised the consumers to visit the FDA website — www.fda.gov.ph — to check whether a product is registered.

Stores selling unregistered products face sanctions under Republic Act No. 9711 or the FDA Act of 2009. —Julie M. Aurelio
