Boat sinks off Romblon; 5 dead, one missing

Five people died while one remain  missing after a motorboat with 50 passengers on board capsized off Romblon Island on Friday morning.

The Philippine Coast Guard said it was still conducting search and rescue operations for the lone missing passenger of the motorboat Alad Express 2.

PCG spokesperson Commander Armand Balilo said the boat left Sibuyan Island at around 9:40 am and was bound for the Port of Romblon.

Forty-four passengers managed to make it to the shoreline and were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.

Five unidentified bodies were fished out of the sea by the PCG’s search and rescue team. Julie M. Aurelio
