The Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to take extra precautions to prevent dengue fever infections especially with the onset of the rainy season.
The DOH made the appeal as the country prepares to commemorate June 15 as the Association of South East Asian Nations Dengue Day next week.
DOH spokesperson Dr. Enrique Tayag cited the DOH’s “4S” prevention measures against dengue fever. The 4S stands for search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation and say no to indiscriminate fogging.
Tayag said that in 2016, there were more than 220,000 reported cases of dengue fever. —Julie M. Aurelio
