A FINAL briefing will be held today to properly guide barangay officials and garbage collectors on the Nov. 10 landfill closure.

Dionisio Gualiza, head of the Department of Public Services, gave the briefing schedule yesterday.

Mayor Michael Rama first wanted the landfill closed on October 1. The planned closure was moved to Nov. 7 and now Nov. 10.

Gualiza said a meeting would be held at the mayor’s residence in Basak San Nicolas this morning to again discuss closure plans especially with barangay captains who missed last week’s presentations.

Rama scheduled three meetings with barangay officials at his residence last week to discuss the matter.

But there were some barangay officials who were unable to attend last week’s meetings.

Gualiza said they needed the barangay officials cooperation in the landfill closure plan.

He said that as planned, the north baragays would be asked to bring their garbage to the landfill in Pulog, Consolacion town.

The southern barangays will be made to bring their garbage in a transfer station. From the transfer station, leased garbage trucks will bring the garbage to the Consolacion garbage facility. /Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
