Drainage plan priority in supplemental budget

A DRAINAGE master plan and the rehabilitation of the Carbon Market will be prioritized by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama when he submits this year’s proposed Supplemental Budget 2, said Councilor Joey Daluz, head of the City Council’s budget committee.

Rama, Daluz, Department of Budget head Nelfa Briones, City Treasurer Ofelia Oliva and City Administrator Jose Mari Poblete discussed the supplemental budget over breakfast in Rama’s residence yesterday.

Daluz said they only discussed what should be in the budget and have yet to specify amounts.

They also discussed the possible sources of income to get the to raise the supplemental budget.

Daluz said the mayor is not keen on taking a loan and that the city might use the surplus budget of last year.

Another source can be the unused money amounting to P1.6 billion allocated for the 2010-2011.
