Capitol Site fire victim dies in hospital

A house owner died a few hours later in the hospital after he fainted while saving his belongings during the fire incident yesterday morning in barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

Wilfredo Alcordo Jr. died of cardiac arrest at Chong Hua hospital, doctors said.

Alcordo’s house was one of three houses that were totally destroyed while three others were partially damaged.

The City fire department pegged damage at P175,000.

Fire investigators said the fire started in a second-story room of Alcordo’s house.

The fire spread and gutted down two other houses owned by Lucricia Castro and Antonio Rama.

Witnesses said Alcordo slipped and fell into the ground while he tried to save his belognings.

Alcordo’s neighbor then brought him to Chong Hua hospital  located near the fire scene.

The fire broke out 2:14 a.m. yesterday and declared under control 12 minutes after.
