In the Know: Resorts World Manila

Resorts World Manila (RWM), which opened in August 2009, is an integrated gaming resort situated in Newport City, a tourism economic zone in the Philippines, and is conveniently located across from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

RWM prides itself as a one-stop, nonstop entertainment and leisure destination that features hotels, casinos, a cinema, a theater, restaurants and a luxury shopping mall in its complex.

RWM is owned and operated by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., a joint venture between Alliance Global Inc. and Genting Hong Kong that was incorporated in December 2003.

AGI, led by property tycoon Andrew Tan, is one of the biggest conglomerates in the Philippines, with interests in the food and beverage industry, property development and quick service restaurant operations. Its subsidiary, Megaworld, is the largest residential developer in the country, whose name has become synonymous with high-end city living through its various high-rise properties.

GHK (formerly Star Cruises Ltd.), the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific, has played a pioneering role in shaping the region’s cruise industry. GHK is also the proponent of Resorts World Genting in Malaysia and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

RWM is currently home to four lodging brands—the luxury all-suite and casino Maxims Hotel, the five-star Marriott Hotel Manila, Remington Hotel and Belmont Hotel Manila. Also located within the complex is the three-story convention center housing the country’s largest hotel ballroom, the Marriott Grand Ballroom. Two more hotels, Sheraton Hotel Manila and Hilton Manila Hotel, are currently under construction.

RWM is also home to the Newport Mall which features international luxury brands, state-of-the-art movie theaters at Newport Cinemas, an ultramodern Newport Performing Arts Theater and almost 50 restaurant outlets offering a diverse selection of local and world cuisine.
