Pangasinan village official nabbed for unlicensed guns

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan—A village official of Binmaley town in Pangasinan province was arrested on Friday (June 2) for possessing unlicensed firearms and bullets.

Edward Mararac, 48, member of the Amancoro village council, did not resist arrest when a team of policemen, who were armed with a search warrant, raided his house at 5:30 a.m.

Seized during the raid were a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol with four bullets, a .45 caliber Nonrico pistol loaded with five bullets, an M16 magazine with seven bullets and a replica of an M16 rifle.

Mararac is now detained at the Binmaley police station as charges for illegal possession of firearms are being prepared against him. With a report from Yolanda Sotelo
