Duterte appoints Ombudsman prosecutor to Sandiganbayan

An antigraft prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman has been designated as member of the antigraft court Sandiganbayan.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday signed the appointment of Bayani Jacinto, the acting director of the prosecution and monitoring unit of the Ombudsman, as the newest associate justice of the seven-division antigraft tribunal.

The Supreme Court was notified by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea of Mr. Duterte’s latest appointment to the judiciary.

Jacinto replaced Associate Justice Roland Jurado, who opted to retire early from the government service on Feb. 1.

Jurado was recently cleared by the Supreme Court in the administrative cases lodged against him for immorality and for amassing ill-gotten wealth.
