LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) regional office here has allowed 15 schools, both public and private, to increase their rates on tuition for this school year 2017.

Engr. Janet Naag, CHED education supervisor, said 21 higher education institutions (HEI) applied for tuition hikes but only 15 have qualified.

“I can’t disclose yet the names of the schools and by how much the increases will be as these are still subject to approval by the CHED central office,” she said.

She said proceeds from the approved tuition hikes would be used to cover salary increases for school employees and the improvement of school facilities directly used by the students.  SFM
